Amidst Sea Mills and Lawrence Weston
there is Kings weston House and the Blaise house estate. The Trail
riding in this area can be very enjoyable after some exploring or with
help of an expert guide. Blaise and Kings Weston Woods
can offer trails for beginners or intermediate riders although DH
enthusiasts would struggle to find the adrenalin pumping trails they
would seek. Single track joins Both the Kings Weston and Blaise estates via the
Iron Bridge (little green footbridge over Kings weston Rd). From Kings Weston House
the trails lead over the iron bridge and up onto Kings weston Hill
where views over the local areas can be had in most directions. Here is
also the site of a roman fort but this is now very difficult to locate.
A lot of singletrack can be used into and out of the surrounding
shrubland and woods. Singletrack also leads either down into the coombe dingle
valley where such places as the Giants soap dish and Penney Well can be
found, or you can take the singletrack over to Castle Hill where you will find
Blaise castle, Lovers Leap as well as singetrack encircling the Hill. If you
follow the footpath from Blaise Castle down to the bottom of Coombe
Dingle Valley it will lead up via a zig-zag path to some more tracks
running near Henbury Golf club. Here you can find the gorams Chair which
has a view down into the Valley. Pleasant riding can be had and rides
can be made to last a good couple of hours without much crossing over
previously travelled routes. Other positives includes good quality
cafe's at both Blaise and Kings Weston houses. Down sides would be an endless
supply of dog walkers and ramblers in unexpected places but politeness
is free and i've only run into one unreasonable person so far.
